Nathan & Diane's Wedding

This past weekend, we traveled
to Cedar Falls for a wedding.

I loved her colors -
pink & chocolate brown.

What a pretty church!

You'd think it was a January wedding
from the pictures - we couldn't
believe that it snowed! At least it
makes for pretty pictures.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Rausch!

Beck Family

Last weekend, the Beck family visited the studio.
Ian was Belle Plaine's 1st Baby of 2009,
so he won a free studio session with his family.

How peaceful...sleeping baby pictures are the best!

This is older sister Courtney.

The proud family!

Jack

In a family full of girls, this is my one
and only nephew, Jack.
He's turning four years old!

What a sweet smile!

Now he's having fun!

This is his "Clark Kent" smile! We tried
to keep him interested by relating
everything to superheroes...it seemed to work.

Happy Birthday Buddy!

Here's another example of a 4x6 postcard

St. Paul's Lutheran Church Directory

The final proof of the St. Paul's Lutheran
Church Directory was sent to the printers
this week. Here's a few sample pages
as we wait for the printed books.

Images of both the old and new church
were pictured on the cover as well as the
alters on an inside page.

Group and individual photos were
taken of the church members
in November of 2008.

I'm glad to have completed my second
church directory. It's a big undertaking...
on to the next!

Copyrights

The issue has come up recently where people ask, "Why can't I use the images you've taken to make my own things such as prints, invitations, books, or banners?"

Here's an excerpt from the Professional Photographers of America's website. I think it answers the question in more precise way than I can.

"Things to remember about copyright:
  • Copyright is a property right.
  • Just because you buy a print does not mean you have purchased the copyright.
  • Professional photographers are the smallest of small copyright holders.
  • Under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976, photographs are protected by copyright from the moment of creation.
  • Photographers have the exclusive right to reproduce their photographs (right to control the making of copies).
  • Unless you have permission from the photographer, you can’t copy, distribute (no scanning and sending them to others), publicly display (no putting them online), or create derivative works from photographs.
  • A photographer can easily create over 20,000 separate pieces of intellectual property annually.
  • Professional photographers are dependent on their ability to control the reproduction of the photographs they create.
    • It affects their income and the livelihood of their families.
  • Even small levels of infringement—copying a photo without permission—can have a devastating impact on a photographer’s ability to make a living.
  • Copyright infringements—reproducing photos without permission—can result in civil and criminal penalties."
To learn more about copyrights or the PPA, or for the source, please visit: http://www.ppa.com/findaphotographer/copyright.php

If you have questions regarding my copyrighted images, feel free to ask. If you'd like to use my photos for a product I don't offer, I will try to find a way to offer it. If it's not possible, we may be able to work out a limited copyright release for a fee.

When in doubt - ask!

Evelyn's Newborn

My beautiful niece Evelyn had her very first
photo shoot. She's almost 3 weeks old.

We got a couple awake shots so we could
see those pretty eyes.

...and the cute little toes...

What a beauty!!

Our little angel!

I may be a bit biased, but I think she's just the
most precious thing!

Deanna & Annelie

We got a few "Best Friends" pictures while
they were here getting the girls' photos.
